“All is possible. I never say it is mission impossible, in football all can happen, you need to believe,” Pochettino told BT Sport.
“It will be tough, but the belief is so important. Now we have another tough game against Arsenal first, and we need to be ready again.
“The most important thing is to try and translate confidence to the whole squad. If you win it's a topic, people ask why you change if your performance was good?
“But sometimes when you win you have to do something to spark the team, to add fresh legs, to tell them we are all important it is not about the name but the collective.
“To arrive to Barcelona and compete at our best we need to have fresh legs, fresh minds, no injuries; to arrive in that way to Barcelona we need to rotate the squad of course. We have big respect for Barcelona.
“Barcelona is one of the best teams in Europe, and of course they have unbelievable players. It will be such a tough game. But we have belief that we can win.”
“We did largely what we had to do, apart from a few moments of the game. We are very disappointed with the result, we’ll go into the next game and see what happens,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“I thought we were growing and didn’t make the most of some scoring opportunities, then conceded with a distraction and nobody was able to cut out the pass.
“Tottenham have this physical strength, they always keep you under pressure throughout the match and we interpreted that Sissoko move wrong twice.”
Nainggolan looked out of sorts and went off before half-time, replaced by Borja Valero.
“I think it’s unlikely he can face Roma, as he felt this ankle problem flare up again and a muscular issue too, as he was running badly to avoid leaning on the ankle.
“I probably should’ve realised earlier that the player was in bad shape and fixed it with a substitution earlier. He was limping. I lost a substitution too by making this initial choice, but we had talked to the player and medics, everything seemed fine.
“Borja Valero played well, but he tends to struggle with the physicality of these games. If he’d played from the start, having played at the weekend, he might not have been as sharp as he was coming off the bench.
“Spurs have more players who like the ball at their feet, whereas we need to get it nice and neat and clean first, otherwise we don’t have the right characteristics to finish off ‘ugly’ chances.
“Ivan Perisic and Mauro Icardi have a powerful physique, but have different characteristics to the Tottenham players. It’s hard to shake a player like Harry Wink off the ball.
“We must push ourselves to play with a little more creativity that at the moment might seem difficult, but we’d be less likely ultimately to lose the ball.”
Tottenham pulled some surprises by leaving Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son on the bench.
“They always played 4-2-3-1 in the Champions League. Mauricio Pochettino did what everyone does, which is to take players who were tired from a game three days ago and rest them to ensure they can make the difference in the final stages with fresh legs.
“Having all these matches close together forces us all to make changes.”
Tottenham need a win away to Barcelona in order to be sure of eliminating Inter, but a draw there with the Nerazzurri beating PSV Eindhoven would send the Italians through.
Barcelona haven’t lost a Champions League game on home turf in over five years.
“It doesn’t cross my mind the thought that players like Pique, Messi and Suarez could take their foot off the gas or not care about losing at home. It’s not an issue.”
“Nobody would’ve said we’d be top of the group and unbeaten after five games. So we should be worried, but so should Liverpool and PSG, because playing in Belgrade is by no means easy.
“We cannot wait for the game to come to us, no matter who we are facing. We have to take it by the scruff of the neck, otherwise we end up losing aggression, being sluggish and that’s why we conceded a goal in the last half-hour.
“Football is curious. People drove us crazy saying we never scored from corners, then we scored from our first corner of the game. Statistics are made to be proved wrong.
“We won’t have our fans at Anfield the way we do here, but we already proved that we can beat them. Quite simply, we can’t make calculations. We have to go there and win.
“It is such a difficult and balanced group that I knew it wasn’t going to be decided today. We now have an advantage over Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain thanks to these five games and must try to make the most of that in the last 90 minutes.
“This group tested us more than any other could and we have proved ourselves in Europe. We proved that we can fight it out with everyone.
“At the same time, we showed that perhaps we could’ve done better in Serie A. Perhaps the Chievo game is the only one where we had a big drop in intensity, but we haven’t done so badly, have we? There are some very strong teams behind us in the table.
“This team gives me strong emotions, it had been two years since I’d felt such strong emotions. When you feel for a team, you perform better.”
"I have a headache now."
If PSG draw at Red Star Belgrade, there will be three teams on nine points each.
In that case, Liverpool have the superior head-to-head record.
Napoli will go through if they avoid defeat at Anfield.
In fact, they could even lose by a one-goal difference as long as they score.
“It’s a painful defeat, as we played well in my view and unfortunately conceded that late goal that ruined everything.
“I thought both teams had chances to score and it could’ve gone either way, in the end they got the ball in the net and we didn’t.
“We can’t think about the other game, as we can’t do anything about it, so we must focus on our own performance.”
Napoli is a little more complicated.
