Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School results!

Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School results are in.

We are delighted with this year’s excellent A-level and BTEC results which our students richly deserve.

This cohort of pupils have faced huge disruption to their schooling over the last two years. Their GCSEs were cancelled due to the pandemic and they have experienced school closures and many have had to isolate at home, in some cases several times.

Their hard work and commitment has really paid off and we have seen an impressive number of top A* and A grades - almost as many as last year’s record.

Further recognition needs to go to our teachers for their high quality teaching and for the hours spent supporting our students - and to our students’ families for the support they have given throughout their education.

Headteacher, Mr Alf Wood, said: "I am so proud of all the hard work of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted time.

"They have shown great perseverance to overcome the challenges we have all faced in recent times and I am particularly impressed with the way that they have supported and encouraged each other.

"Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure students are able to progress onto further education, apprenticeships and employment, and I am sure that they will go on to do great things in the future."

We are particularly pleased for the following students:

Millie Sanders achieved A* grades in all 3 of her A Levels: Biology, Chemistry and Psychology with an A grade in Core Maths. Millie has secured a place at Oxford University to study Experimental Psychology.

"I could not be happier, especially after all that we have been through in the last few years. Thank you to the school and to all the teachers for their amazing support," she said.

Chancellor’s School results!

Results coming in from Chancellor's School in Brookmans Park now.

Students at Chancellor’s in Brookmans Park were excited to receive their A-level grades today and were delighted with their results.

Results day was a different experience from recent years. It was the first time that this cohort of students had sat public examinations and, therefore, the wait for their results seemed to go on forever.

Senior leaders, support staff and members of the Sixth Form pastoral team were on hand to congratulate the students on their grades, and to provide a much-needed personal touch.

Importantly, the overwhelming majority of the students secured the grades they needed to take the next exciting step in their education, training or employment, with many accepting a place at their first choice of university.

As usual, there were a number of notable achievements by students whose progress was exceptional including Redon Shaqiri (A*A*A) who will read Mathematics and Computer Science at Birmingham, Jonathan Prigmore (A*AA) who will read Aeronautics and Astronautics at Southampton, and Sylvie Maddock Lyon (AAB) who will read International Relations at Leeds.

"Their results are a fitting tribute to their resilience, hard work and conscientious approach throughout two years of rigorous academic study.

"They are a truly remarkable group of talented students and wish them well. I would also like to thank my colleagues for their expertise, inspiration and careful support as they prepared our students for the challenges of their programmes of study and their future lives."

Stanborough School results!

Next up, results from Stanborough School in Welwyn Garden City.

Stanborough students have received a set of remarkable A-level and vocational results, with the school recording its highest ever percentage of A* and A grades.

Several students achieved A- A* grades, earning them places at a wide range of prestigious universities on highly competitive courses. 40 per cent of A-level grades were in the range of A*-A and 71 per cent in the range of A*-B.

"Our children who are at the heart of everything we do are more than just grades," said headteacher, Mrs John.

"Grades do not define them but their character does. I am so proud of each and every one of our Year 13 students.

"The last time our students were in full-time education was in Year 10. They had been significantly impacted by COVID-19, were not able to end Year 11 like previous students, were not able to have a Year 11 prom and did not get the chance to sit their GCSE examinations.

"In spite of all this, the resilience, strength of character, fighting spirit and the dedication they have demonstrated has been remarkable.

"They are all exceptional, inspiring and talented young people and we couldn’t be prouder of them. They have been a credit to the Stanborough community and have been wonderful role models to the rest of the school."

Cambridge, Durham, Nottingham and Reading Universities will welcome Stanborough students from September, as well as others who will take places at universities to study a range of courses and degrees including Mathematics, English, Astro Physics, Economics, Biomedical Science, Music Business, Media, Psychology, Teaching, Marketing and Management, History and Politics, Geography, Business Finance, Finance, Investment and Risk, Sports, Law, Law and Spanish and Criminology.

A special message from Mrs John went out to staff for their tireless work behind the scenes over the last seven years and acknowledged that teaching is an incredibly rewarding and humbling career where we have an impact on young lives and shape their future.

Mr Maidment, head of sixth form was also thanked for his unstinting support of the year group and for always giving up his time to support them throughout their sixth form education. He has been an inspirational head of sixth form for the last 15 years.

He will now be stepping down and taking on another exciting leadership post at Stanborough. I would like to thank him for the dedication and commitment he has shown in serving our sixth form students.

"I am in awe of this fantastic group of students," said Mr Maidment.

"The results that they have achieved are exceptional and to have done so in such exacting times is an exemplification of their tenacity, resilience and admirable work ethic.

"It has truly been an honour for me to have worked with this group of inspirational students and I have no doubt that they will achieve commendable outcomes in their chosen post-18 pathways. I could not have wished for a better group of students with which to end my tenure as head of sixth."

"I would also like to acknowledge our parents who have nurtured and encouraged their children throughout their school lives. These results show that the combination of excellent teaching, the commitment of students and the support of parents is paramount to success." Mrs John adds.
