Sandringham School results!

Last results are in, from Sandringham School in St Albans.

Year 11 students received wonderful news as they opened their GCSE results envelopes today. 

The issues of the past two years including remote learning and COVID-19 restrictions where soon forgotten as students digested their results and realised that their hard work and efforts had been rewarded with amazing results.

Keerthana Appandairaj and Emily Darlington achieved eleven level 9 grades, Samantha Skerry achieving 10 level 9s and Henry Thompson a total of 9 level 9 grades this year. 

With examinations back for the first time since 2019, students continued to improve and performed very highly once again. 

Most students achieved the top grades of levels 7 to 9 which will help set them up for the next sage in their learning; either joining other students in the Sandringham Sixth Form or moving on to college or apprenticeship.

Alan Gray, headteacher, said, "We are really proud of all our students today. 

"They have been incredibly supportive of each other throughout and embraced not only their studies but also the wider aspects of the curriculum such as sport, the Arts and Duke of Edinburgh scheme. 

"They have been rewarded for their hard work and effort with many truly outstanding results which will result in our largest ever sixth form. 

"Well done everyone and a very big thank you to our talented staff who helped students achieve so well today."

Roundwood School results!

Results from Roundwood School in Harpenden are up next.

There were smiles all round at Roundwood Park School as students received their GCSE results this morning.

Headteacher, Alan Henshall, said: "I am proud of the students for all of their hard work and achieving their potential, showing remarkable resilience after the disruptions of the last couple of years.

"I would like to congratulate my staff and thank parents and families for their unwavering support.

"We look forward to welcoming many students back to the Sixth Form and wish those going on to pastures new the very best of luck."

Verulam School results!

Results from Verulam School now.

Students and staff at Verulam School are celebrating an excellent set of results from this year’s GCSE examinations.

Headteacher, Julie Richardson, said: "Our students have done themselves, their community and our school proud. 

"These results are a reflection of their effort over the past five years.  Despite the disruption of the pandemic, their positive work ethic, resilience and perseverance has paid off.

"I would like to also recognise the outstanding work of our teachers and support staff. I am very proud to be the headteacher of Verulam School and these results reflect our ongoing improvement. 

"I would like to wish all of our leavers the very best for their next steps. I look forward to hearing of their success."

Special mention should go to Faiyaj Chowdhury, who achieved a whopping ten grade 9’s and one grade 8, and Daniel Rafferty, who achieved an impressive eight grade 9’s, and one grade 8.

Congratulations should also go to Cheuk Yin Chung who achieved eight grade 9’s, one grade 8 and one grade 7, Tariq El-Jumaily who achieved five grade 9’s and four grade 8’s and Rishabh Heerah who achieved six grade 9’s, two grade 8’s and one grade 7.

Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School results!

More results are in, this time from Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School in St Albans.

A humble and delighted Anna Assaker, who joined the NBS community only a year ago from overseas, achieved the top grades in the year group.

"I am so glad that all the hard work and the support I received from my teachers has paid off," she said.

"I am so happy with my results, and I am delighted that my hard work throughout the year has paid off. I look forward to staying at NBS Sixth Form to follow my dream of becoming a doctor."

Iiiran Lokaj, one of the top achievers who made exceptional progress, said: "I am so happy with the results I achieved today.

"It shows that hard work and resilience are key to success, especially over the last two years. 

"I want to thank the school and my teachers who helped me achieve my potential.”

Grace Downes was ecstatic and delighted with her outstanding grades, saying: “I am over the moon with these results and want to thank all my teachers for guiding me.

"I am looking forward to joining the Sixth Form at NBS to study Biology, Chemistry and History at A-levels”.  

Andrew Gullick said: "I am #NBSPROUD with my results, and I am thankful for all the support I have received throughout my school years."

Declan Linnane, headteacher, added: "I would like to congratulate all our students on another successful year highlighting that they have worked incredibly hard under challenging circumstances.

"Our students and staff have embraced these challenges and have shown to be resilient and dynamic to ensure learning continued especially during the global pandemic.

"We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements as they have worked extremely hard and these results are a tribute to their commitment over the last five years. 

"I would also like to acknowledge our parents who have nurtured and encouraged their children throughout their school lives. 

"This collaborative effort between school and home has been a major factor in Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School achieving these results is a fitting end to a great academic year."

St Albans Girls' School

Results from St Albans Girls' School now.

St Albans Girls' School is delighted to have achieved 92 per cent Grade 9-5 overall in our GCSE results this year, with 87 per cent Grade 9-5 including Maths and English. 

This is in line with the results achieved by students during the COVID-19 pandemic when teachers at the school provided evidence for their grades. 

Mrs Chapman, headteacher, commented: "These are fantastic achievements and enable a firm foundation for wonderful future opportunities with dreams and learning aspirations being achieved – these results open so many pathways for our students and we wish everyone success in their future endeavours. 

"Enormous praise goes to our wonderful STAGS students for their fabulous achievements; witnessing them opening their results and seeing the fruits of their labours today made the months of revision  all worthwhile and was a joy to behold.

"However, this would not have been possible without the fantastic support of parents and teachers and all involved in supporting our STAGS community, who provided continuous cajoling, nurturing, guidance and at times a good talking to. 

"The unfailing support has been rewarded and to everyone I offer a huge well done!” 

A special mention to Mariam, Zoe, Arianwen, Emily and Esme who achieved all Grade 9s putting them at the top of their age group nationally. 

Also congratulations to Lauren, Stella, Mariella, Sophie, Alice, Emily, Pippa, Annabelle, Edda, Ollie, Lola, and Meggie who achieved all Grade 8s and 9s in their GCSEs.

Sophie is delighted with her results, saying: "What a fantastic morning, I can’t wait to start at STAGS sixth next week. 

"I’ve already completed the summer work and am excited about studying A-levels."

In addition to A-level study, students receiving their results today will also be undertaking college and apprenticeship courses including in beauty therapy, child care, animal care, art foundation and public services. 

We look forward to welcoming them into STAGS sixth next Friday. 

STAGS recognises that these results are only possible because of the unfailing encouragement of parents and staff and the school would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have supported our students so admirably in achieving their superb goals.

St Columba's College results!

St Columba's College in St Albans is up next on GCSE results day.

Congratulations to all our GCSE students on an outstanding set of results which represent the College’s best ever performance at GCSE. 

99 per cent of grades were awarded at 9-4, while 69 per cent of grades were awarded at 9-7 and over a quarter of students achieved a full set of grades 7-9.

Individual highlights include three students who achieved a full set of eleven Grade 9s – Sean McEvoy, Michael Takla and Joshua Watson.

Outgoing headmaster, Mr David Buxton, said "We are delighted by the quality of these results having returned this year to the examination format. 

"Students should be extremely proud of what they have achieved and commended for their hard work and resilience. 

"The results allow the students to progress towards their desired career paths.

Sir John Lawes results!

The next results come from Sir John Lawes School in Harpenden, and they include the highest Biology score in the country!

The rain did little to dampen the spirits of the Sir John Lawes Year 11 students receiving fantastic GCSE results today. 

Students and staff were able to celebrate together as the school achieved its best ever attainment score, and there were smiles and hugs all round as students opened their envelopes. 

Six Sir John Lawes students gained straight 9 grades in their exams and one student, Greg Clark, recorded the highest Biology score in the country. 

"I’m thrilled with my results and I can’t wait to start back in the sixth form at SJL," he said.

Head of school, Phil Newbery, added: "We are particularly proud of this cohort for facing the global pandemic with such positivity. 

"Their hard work and determination have paid off and they should be delighted with the grades they have achieved. 

"The majority of students are returning to our 6th form and we are sure we will see them go on to even greater successes in the future."

Samuel Ryder Academy results!

More results coming in now, this time from Samuel Ryder Academy in St Albans.

Samuel Ryder Academy students are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE and BTEC qualifications, building on the centre assessed and teacher assessed grades that were awarded over the previous two years. 

With achievement continuing to soar across all areas of the curriculum, the school is delighted to share the collective success. 

Among a number of individual achievements, Katelyn, Alfie, Beth and Anne have performed exceptionally well, cumulatively achieving a total of 30 grade 9s across the full range of subjects.

Tom Savage, Head of Year 11 said: "As a diligent and conscientious group of young adults, we are delighted that their sustained effort and determination has been realised in these fantastic results. 

"It is particularly pleasing to see the number of students that have exceeded their expectations and achieved more than they believed possible. Every individual should rightly be proud of their achievement.

"This is a year group who fully represent the ACE, which is at the heart of all that we do at Samuel Ryder Academy. We look forward to welcoming back many of our students as they commence their A Level studies in our largest sixth form cohort."

Beaumont School results!

The first results of the day are in, and they come from Beaumont School in St Albans.

Students and teachers are celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results.

"I am delighted that our students have surpassed the very high standards set by previous cohorts," said headteacher, Martin Atkinson.

"We are looking forward to starting the new term with our largest and best qualified sixth form ever." 

Head of Year 11, Liz Cleverly, added: "The members of this year group have excelled in extra-curricular activities, including sport, Music, Drama and the DofE Award Scheme and now they have reached the highest levels academically across all areas of the curriculum. 

"I am immensely proud of this tremendous success, which is down to the hard work they have put into their studies, in spite of the challenges they faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

"The students have embodied the character of the school by pulling together and supporting each other to achieve their very best."
