The Welwyn school had some particularly exceptional students.

Zoë Wright achieved seven level 9s and three level 8s.

Evelyn Fagbola received six level 9s and three level 8s.

Other students received level 9s in design and technology and Art.

The school said it was a lovely morning of delightful smiles.

Stanborough School

After weeks of waiting, Stanborough School pupils finally collected their GCSE and BTEC results this morning in Welwyn Garden City.

Headteacher Merry John said: “It has been a pleasure to work with the Year 11 students in my first year of headship.

"I have been impressed as they have demonstrated dedication, commitment and resilience in the months leading up to these examinations.

"Today, we celebrate the hard work and talents of the individual students and the fantastic commitment of the teachers and support staff.

"The staff here at Stanborough have worked tirelessly to support each and every child and this is evident in the results.

"I would also like to acknowledge our parents and carers who have nurtured and encouraged their children throughout their school lives.

"Our students are indeed a credit to this school community and I wish them the very best as they start the next exciting phase of their educational journey.”

Particularly successful Stanborough pupils were Daniel Green, with ten 9s, Kassem Yuser with ten GCSEs at grades 8 and 9, Charlie Earnshaw, with eight GCSEs at 8 and 9 and Katie McClymont with ten GCSEs at 9, 8 and 7.

Olivia Spolnicka also received ten GCSEs at grades 9, 8 and 7. Jay Puranik received nine 9s, 8s and 7s, and Jack Dickinson received nine 9s, 8s and 7s.

Mrs John added: "We are also very pleased that a high proportion of students will continue their studies into the Sixth Form at Stanborough, and will continue to perform at the highest level as demonstrated by our very good A-level results achieved last week.

"We also have a number of students who have been successful in their GCSE and BTEC qualifications and will now follow college or Level 2 Apprenticeship courses."

Head of Year 11 Mr Persand said: “I am extremely proud of the tremendous effort, dedication and resilience shown by our students and wish them the very best as they move on to the next stage of their lives.”

Monk's Walk School

Monk's Walk School in Welwyn Garden City is celebrating another great set of GCSE results.

Twenty pupils achieved at least seven subjects graded 9 or 8, with 8 being roughly equivalent to the old A* and 9 above that.

Four students achieved seven or more subjects at grade 9 – which the school describes as a "phenomenal" achievement.

With success for many students across a broad range of subjects, most gained the grades they need to progress to college or apprenticeship and a large number will be joining the school’s successful sixth form.

Headteacher Kate Smith said: "I am so pleased with these GCSE results which are really deserved by our students - they worked so hard and showed a huge commitment to their studies.

"I would also like to thank every member of staff and the trustees of Monk’s Walk for their hard work. Credit must also go to our parents, who give great support to the students and to the school.

"Our students have produced a great set of results in the face tougher examinations introduced in the last couple of years.

"Just the sheer number of examinations they have to sit make the process much more challenging.

"These GCSE results come hard on the heel of last week’s very strong A-level results, which saw almost all students who had applied gaining a place at university or apprenticeship of their choice."

Bishop's Hatfield Girls' School

Bishop's girls are celebrating a set of results which are even better than last year's.

Preliminary analysis shows that the vast majority of pupils have made excellent progress throughout their GCSE years.

Eighteen girls achieved a minimum of eight grades at 7 to 9, with outstanding results attained by, among others, Hannah Talmage, who received eight 9s and two 8s, Rosie Langston, who gained seven 9s and three 7s, and Jodie Garg, who received six 9s and three 8s.

Co-headteachers Theodora Nickson and Alf Wood said: "There is no doubt that all the students have worked very hard to achieve these excellent results, and thanks must go to their teachers and parents for the support given.

"We wish all our girls success in what they choose to do next, confident that their GCSE results give them a firm foundation for the future."

Chancellor's School

Chancellor's School in Brookmans Park is celebrating good results across a wide range of subjects this year.

Two thirds of exams in biology, chemistry, physics, music and food were graded from 9 to 7, and other subjects with high levels of pupil progress included maths, French, design technology, art, photography, history, RS and textiles.

Many pupils achieved multiple 9 grades. Of particular note are Harvey Buhagiar, who received eight 9s and two 8s and Will Fuller, who received six 9s, three 8s and one 7.

Alice Armon received five 9s, three 8s and two 7s, and Max Lee achieved five 9s, one 8, three 7s and one 6.

Chancellor’s is equally delighted to be celebrating a huge number of students who have made exceptional progress throughout their GCSEs.

Of particular note are three students who have achieved on average results three grades higher than government targets in each subject. These pupils are Willem Caney (one 9, four 8s, three 7s and one 5), Louisa Costa-McFadden (four 9s, four 8s and one 7) and Jack Brosi (one 9, one 8, two 7s, three 6s and one 5).

Headteacher David Croston said: “We are once again delighted with the outstanding performance of Chancellor’s School students.

"In an ever-changing and increasingly challenging educational climate, these results are a testament to the hard work, commitment and perseverance of our students, the professionalism and inspiration of their teachers, and the wonderful support of their parents and carers.

"We now look forward to celebrating our students’ exam success and to welcoming record numbers of into our thriving Sixth Form in September.”

Queenswood, Brookmans Park

The excellent GCSE results achieved by Queenswood pupils today demonstrate outstanding value added.

More than half of all students who sat exams in a wide range of subjects, including maths, French, Spanish, music, art and drama, achieved at least two grades higher than predicted by baseline tests.

Over two thirds of girls scored an average of 7 or above, equivalent to an A grade, across their subjects. The percentage of grades 9–7 was well over twice the national average, and more than 98 per cent of grades were 9–4 (the equivalent of A*–C) – an increase on last year’s results.

There were some tremendous individual success stories, with over 20 per cent of pupils receiving at least eight grades 7 or higher, and several achieving eight or more grade 9s – an outstanding accomplishment.

Principal Jo Cameron said she was delighted with the girls’ achievements.

"I am thrilled that the determination and diligence of our pupils and teachers has paid off, and that our girls will now be able to embark on their A-level courses full of confidence."
