Knights Templar GCSE results 2019

GCSE students at Knights Templar School collected their results today.

The school said  the students should be delighted with their success, and that these exams have been some of the toughest for years and the school is very proud of the achievements of all its students. 

Some key achievements:

  • 35 (17 per cent) of students achieved 1 or more of the very top grade ‘9’. 
  •  45 per cent of students achieved 1 or more grade 7s or better (old A grade)
  • 24% of students achieved 5 or more grade 7s or better (the requirement for entry to top universities
  • Students with highest number of top grades include:

Tom Collinson who achieved six 9s and three 8s, Rachel Goward who got six 9s, one 8 and one 7, Maisie Tomlinson with five 9s and four 8s.

Mia Luk achieve five 9s, three 8s and two 7s and both Felicty Massie and Alex Molinaro got four 9s, four 8s and one 7.

Simran Dhesi and Harrison Kemp both achieved four 9s and three 8s, and Lucius Wong came out with four 9s, two 8s and three 7s. 

Zara Northern achieved four 9s, two 8s and one 7, Adam Caine got four 9s, one 8 and one 7 and Revae Tilbury achieved three 9s, four 8s and two 7s. 

Daniel Garcia's results included three 9s, four 8s and two 7s, Callum McCreath achieved three 9s, four 8s and one 7 and Abby Fearfield got three 9s, two 8s and four 7s.

Jess Plant come out with three 9s, two 8s and four 7s and Gabriel Taylor also got three 9s, two 8s and three 7s. 

Headteacher Tim Litchfield said: “My warmest congratulations extend to all of our students whose dedication and commitment to their studies has been rewarded. 

"I am sure all students and parents will join with me in thanking our exceptional staff for their continued dedication to ensuring each student has the help, support and instruction needed to help them do as well as they possibly can.  

"As we can see there have been some exceptional individual performances but I am so proud of all our students.

"They are a credit to themselves and their parents and are a testament to the remarkable teaching and pastoral support we provide here at Knights Templar”.

Flo Oetgen, Head of Year 11, added:

“I am so incredibly proud of the year 11 students for all the hard work and for the determination they have shown.

" I feel privileged to have been able have been there with them today as they opened their results and were able to celebrate their hard earned success. 

"I would like to wish every one of our students the best of luck as they carry on into the next stage of their lives and I am glad that so many of them have achieved such great results that are going to open doors for them in the future.”

Last but not least...
Results are in for Samuel Whitbread Academy in Shefford

Students and staff at Samuel Whitbread Academy are celebrating a stunning set of GCSE results - the school’s best ever - with 73 per cent of students gaining a 9-4 in English and maths and 48 per cent achieving 9-5, well above the national average. 

An impressive 77 per cent of all the grades achieved this year were a grade 4 or above with 32 students gaining one or more of the coveted grade 9s.

Maths were celebrating record-breaking results with 81 per cent achieving 9-4 and 56 per cent achieving 9-5, 13 students managing to gain a grade 9. 

This matched the English results of 80 per cent achieving 9-4 and 63 per cent 9-5.

There were a number of individual highlights this year with several students achieving the top grades, including Tom Warriner, who achieved seven grade 9s.

He said: “I am really happy with my results and I’d like to thank all my teachers, especially performing arts and English, who really helped me through all my exams. 

"I’d also like to say well done to all my friends.” 

Cailin Prior, also achieved seven grade 9s, said: “I was so shocked with my results and I still can't quite believe it. I’d like to thank all my teachers, especially biology, PE and sociology!”

Principal Nick Martin said: “The students have excelled themselves this year and I’m so pleased for all of them. 

"As a year group they have worked incredibly hard and this has clearly paid off with lots of smiling faces this morning when they picked up their results. 

"I would like to congratulate all of them on their results and wish them the very best for their next steps, whether they're returning here for sixth form, or off to college or an apprenticeship.”

Barnwell School: 'We are very proud of our students'

The headteacher of Stevenage’s Barnwell School has spoken of his pride after seeing students pick up their GCSE results.

Executive head Tony Fitzpatrick said: “It was lovely to see so many smiling faces from students and parents as exam results were opened. We are very proud of the continual hard work put in by students and staff alike. 

“We are very proud of all of our students and we wish them well as they move to the next stage in their educational journey.” 

Top performers highlighted by the school were:

Nobel School head 'absolutely delighted' with GCSE results

The head of Stevenage's Nobel School has said that the school is "absolutely delighted" with students' GCSE results, which were opened this morning.

Headteacher Martyn Henson continued: "Students and staff have worked incredibly hard. The vast majority will be returning to Nobel for advanced courses.

"We wish all Nobelians a happy and successful future – well done!”

Barclay staff 'delighted'

Barclay Academy’s interim headteacher says the Stevenage school is “delighted” that their hardworking students have been rewarded with good results.

The school highlighted the achievements of James Hawketts, Lauren Feagan, Najeeb Mohiuddin, Anita Sajeev and Toby Hill – who all achieved the highest grades.

“We are delighted that our hardworking students have been richly rewarded with some strong outcomes,” said interim head Lauren Philips. “Huge congratulations to all of our students on their results and to our teachers for all their hard work.”

John Henry Newman students praised for 'wonderful set of results'

Stevenage's John Henry Newman Catholic School students have been praised for achieving 'another wonderful set of results'.
32 of the Year 11 pupils at John Henry Newman achieved 8 or more GCSEs at grade 9 to 7, with 21 of these achieving 9 or more GCSEs at grades 9 to 7. 

14 pupils achieved 3 or more GCSEs with the top grade 9. Of particular note are Valentina Adetunji with six 9s, David Brouat with seven 9s, Dominic Burns with five 9s, Raquim Corporal with four 9s, Emily Crawley with five 9s, Elena De Melim with five 9s, Amber Fox with eight 9s, Alicia Frame with ten 9s, Kaiwen Hughes with four 9s, Monique Knight with four 9s, Serina Shimali-Richards with four 9s, Helen Spencer with five 9s, and Nicholas Thoelke with five 9s.

In addition, many pupils have made outstanding individual progress. 

In this regard, the school is especially proud of the following pupils - Carlo De Guzman, Serina Shimali-Richards, Gabija Zeniauskaite, Ugo Umunnakwe, Raquim Corporal, Ann Mathew, Monet Knight, Geraldyn Espanola, and Elena De Melim, who are among pupils who achieved at least two grades higher, on average, in each of their GCSEs when compared to government targets.

Headteacher Clive Mathew said: "This is another wonderful set of results for our children and their parents. A big thank you goes to them, as they have worked very hard to achieve such excellent outcomes".

Fearnhill School: GCSE results 2019

There were many happy faces at Letchworth's Fearnhill School today as students were celebrating a great set of results. 

Students across the board had worked very hard and the outcomes reflect their commitment and the support they have had from the whole community. 

There were some outstanding individual results including Isshika Verma, who achieved 3 GCSE grade 9s, 5 at grade 8 and 2 at grade 7. 

Samuel Adesunloro swept the board with 6 GCSEs at grade 8, 2 at grade 7 and 2 at grade 6. 

Luke Garner recorded an impressive 4 GCSEs at grade 8, 4 at 7 and 2 at 6. 

There were many other pleasing performances to celebrate, particularly where students had overcome individual challenges.

 Headteacher Liz Ellis said: "We are delighted to celebrate this day with students and their families. 

"Our Year 11 students this year were a credit to themselves and their community and today we have seen the result of their long term commitment and sheer hard work. 

"Our thanks of course also go to the teachers who have given generously of their own time to help ensure our students are ready to face their next challenge as they progress to the sixth form."

St Christopher School head 'proud of breadth of results'

Staff and pupils at St Christopher School in Letchworth are celebrating a strong set of GCSE results with 83 per cent of all marks awarded grades 9-4.

On average 60 per cent of grades in biology, chemistry and physics were awarded 9-7 with pupils also achieving 55 per cent 9-7 grades in music and 56 per cent 9-7 grades in Art 3D.

Headteacher Richard Palmer said: “We are incredibly proud of how hard all of our pupils worked for their results. 

"The learning skills they have developed as part of their GCSE courses will stand them in good stead for the sixth form.

"There were a number of outstanding academic performances however, as a school that does not select pupils purely on their academic ability, it is the breadth of our results that we are most proud of, and they are a credit to our pupils and their teachers.”
