There was drama until the very end at Wembley and we needed to wait almost 100 minutes for a goal, but there were three of them in extra-time and Italy survive a poor performance by their standards and a valiant Austrian effort to reach the quarterfinals.

IT'S TWO FOR ITALY! The Italians score in the final play of the first half of extra-time, as Matteo Pessina picks up the rebound after the Austrian defense fails to clear a cross from Insigne and fires it home! 

ITALY TAKE THE LEAD! Spinazzola's excellent pass from the left finds Chiesa, who controls it with his head, beats Laimer to the the ball and fires it home with his left foot!

Very disappointing performance from the Italians and Austria have taken this one to extra time.

Excellent second half from Austria, who are more intense and attacking. Italy dropped off considerably since 30 great minutes to start the game, and they're yet to create in the second period.

Arnautovic heads home the opener for Austria, but he was offside when Alaba won the initial header in the box and the goal is called off!

Enjoyable first half in London, with Italy on top for most of the period and three good chances for the Azzurri. Austria have been solid as well, and looking dangerous enough on the counter to give themselves a chance in the second half.
