Man Utd set to make up to 200 staff members redundant in new restructuring plan

Manchester United is set to make up to 200 staff members redundant in a new restructuring plan.

This comes after 250 staff members were made last year.

The changes are being implemented by the INEOS group, headed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, as well as CEO Omar Berrada.

The club statement read: "As part of these measures, the club anticipates that approximately 150-200 jobs may be made redundant, subject to a consultation process with employees.

"These would be in addition to the 250 roles removed last year."

Omar Berrada, Manchester United CEO, said: “We have a responsibility to put Manchester United in the strongest position to win across our men’s, women’s and academy teams.

"We are initiating a wide-ranging series of measures which will transform and renew the club. Unfortunately, this means announcing further potential redundancies and we deeply regret the impact on those affected colleagues.

"However, these hard choices are necessary to put the club back on a stable financial footing."

The statement noted that the club had lost money the last five consecutive years, and needed to make the changes in order to "meet UEFA and Premier League regulations".

Steven Gerrard 'favourite for new job' weeks after leaving Saudi manager role

Steven Gerrard is the 'favourite for a new job' just weeks after leaving his Saudi manager role.

Gerrard left Al-Ettifaq by mutual agreement at the end of January after 18 months in charge of the club.

The Liverpool legend earned his stripes with Rangers and Aston Villa, and now the 44-year-old is set for a return to the former of the two.

Rangers have only just parted ways with Philippe Clement after mixed results at the Ibrox, leaving the Scottish giants managerless.

Now, as reported by Scottish national paper, The Daily Record, Steven Gerrard is the "favourite" to take over the vacant position.

Gerrard spent three season with Rangers, winning the league in the 2020/21 season, his sole managerial accolade.

Real Madrid eye shock move for £62m rated Everton star

Real Madrid are eyeing up a move for a £62m rated Everton star who is being chased by multiple European giants.

22-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite has long been tipped for a big move since his establishment in the Everton squad last season.

Last summer, the English centre-back was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, however, now Los Blancos are looking to get involved.

As reported by Spanish outlet Diario AS, and referenced by BBC Sport, Madrid are keen on the player, however, are currently being deterred by the Toffees' £62m asking price.

Transfermarkt has the player's value at £35m.

The dominating centre-back would be no stranger to European football, having played a season on loan with PSV Eindhoven where he won the Dutch cup.

If indeed he did move to Madrid, he'd be linking up with fellow England teammate Jude Bellingham, and potentially Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants as well.

Liverpool fans all make the same point after identifying 'weakness' v Man City

Liverpool go into half-time at Manchester City leading 2-0, after a clinical Mo Salah finish, followed by an assist to set up Dominik Szoboszlai.

An action-packed half with many chances at both ends, the home side have also produced many openings - many of which leading to the Reds fans making the same point.

With a remarkable statistic published, Trent Alexander-Arnold was dribbled past seven times in one half, enduring a torrid time up against the lively Jeremy Doku.

Trending on X, fans all addressed the stat:

A second fan joked: "Somebody save Trent."

Premier League Match Centre issue statement on Lewis-Skelly red card v West Ham

The Premier League match centre have issued an official statement addressing the Myles Lewis-Skelly red card v West Ham United.

1-0 down and chasing the game, the Gunners were dealt another bitter blow as Lewis-Skelly's yellow card was upgraded to a red, following the decision of referee Craig Pawson.

The VAR Hub have now posted an update on their X channel issuing the reason for the decision:

"VAR checked the referee’s call of yellow card to Lewis-Skelly for a challenge on Kudus – deeming it denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity due to the goalkeeper’s position and there being no covering defender, therefore recommended an on-field review. The referee then upgraded the yellow to a red card."

Man United fans name the only player they want to keep in the team after polarising Everton game

Man United fans have named the only player they want to keep in the team after a polarising match that saw the Red Devils fight back from 2-0 against Everton.

The first half left much to be desired for United, playing extremely poor and conceding two goals to a revitalised David Moyes Everton side.

Despite a fightback in the second half led by the ever-reliable captain Bruno Fernandes, United fans have been naming one player they feel is the only one to keep in the team.

Surprisingly it isn't the Portuguese magnifico.

In fact it is new signing Patrick Dorgu who has been receiving flowers from fans everywhere, describing him as a player who "gives belief in Amorim's system".

One fan wrote about him: "The only player who was trying to do something, the only one playing for the BADGE.

"I don't know about you Reds but watching Patrick Dorgu gives me so much belief in Ruben Amorim's system. Just imagine Quenda in Dalot’s place."

Another fan described the Danish international as " a level ahead of everyone else."

While one fan said: "Dorgu did everything that was expected of him today. From the start of the game to the end, he kept trying to make a difference."

United fans will be hoping he continues to up hold this form for the rest of the season.
