French Rugby President criticises handling of Dupont incident

There has been uproar surrounding the injury suffered by Antoine Dupont against Ireland on Saturday.

Their talismanic scrum-half will be out for a number of months after injuring his cruciate.

Tadhg Beirne - who fell on Dupont's knee - was not cited for the incident, as it was deemed an accident.

Calvin Nash, who received a yellow card for a high tackle in the game, was not cited either, with officials feeling the yellow card as sufficient punishment.

The president of the French Rugby Federation, Florian Grill, has since come out and said that his team need more respect from World Rugby and the Six Nations and criticised Angus Gardner's handling of the Dupont situation.

He said: " We must earn more respect at World Rugby and Six Nations.

"What shocked us is that the ref did not go and study the images of Antoine's injury himself."

France score controversial try and Nash sent to the bin

An awful few minutes for Ireland.

Paul Boudehent crashes over for France, and the ref checks a tackle in the build up and decides Calvin Nash was too high and sends him to the bin.

There is a TMO check for the try and it appears that Peter O'Mahony was fouled in the build up when he was cleared out beyond the ruck.

However, Gardner reckons it is ok, much to the chagrin of the crowd as large boos ring out.

Dan Sheehan gets Ireland's first try of the game

The rolling maul goes beautifully and Dan Sheehan dives over for Ireland.

Sam Prendergast slots an impressive conversion.

Ireland and France embroiled in intense battle as we reach half-time

Ireland started the stronger but were unable to get any point for their efforts.

A headless moment from Joe McCarthy saw him sin binned and France get the first try, before Antoine Dupont was forced off and Prendergast's kicking got Ireland back in the game.
