Ronan O'Gara reveals how Munster legend gave him idea for Mick O'Dwyer tribute

As we reported on further down the blog, La Rochelle paid a classy stadium tribute to the late Kerry GAA legend Mick O'Dwyer, ahead of yesterday's clash with Munster.

Head coach Ronan O'Gara revealed how it was former Munster player Mick Galwey who gave him the idea for it.

He said: "I thought it would be good for the Munster people to see that.

"He was buried today and I'm sure if I was in Ireland I'd be there or taking a moment out to appreciate everything he's done for Irish sport.

"A lot of good Munster people are from a GAA background. I met Gaillimh this morning, and Gaillimh planted the idea with me so he still works his magic wherever he goes."

Galwey had himself played under O'Dwyer for the Kerry Gaelic football team during their run to the 1986 All-Ireland title.

Ahead of Toulouse's Champions Cup round of 16 clash with Sale Sharks, three military parachutes flew in to the stadium as part of the pre-match celebrations.

However, there was chaos as one of them flew into and got stuck in the roof at the Stadium de Toulouse, delaying kick-off.

O'Gara labels Crowley as a 'little f***ker' after drop goal heroics

Ronan O'Gara was extremely gracious in defeat after his La Rochelle side lost 24-25 to Munster yesterday.

And it was an O'Gara-esque drop goal from Jack Crowley that made the difference.

After the game, the ex-Munster out-half - famous for his many match-winning drop goals for both Munster and Ireland - likened the youngster to himself.

He said: "For a second. I thought Jack Crowley was with me, I was like 'f**k, that's the wrong team'.

"I was hoping that would turn our season today but we have to go back to the drawing board now and see what can be resurrected."

"It's important. I'm obviously gutted but I think you've got to compliment and congratulate Munster on how they constructed their victory.

"It was pretty ironic how they won it, getting it out to eight points with a peach of a drop goal. I was thinking 'that little f**ker'.

"I've seen a lot of good drop goals but that's a top-class one at a moment that just probably takes the decision away from the referee too, with a five-point game, maybe you're thinking okay we're going to have a chance.

"But it was a brilliant kick. Craig Casey kicked brilliantly and they took their opportunities, we didn't. You can analyse deeply into it but that's a pretty fast summation of it."

Ronan O'Gara calls out game-changing clanger which swung game for Munster

While there was no guarantee that La Rochelle would have gone on to beat Munster had Teddy Thomas finished a relatively straight forward try-scoring opportunity, it may have been the winning and losing of the game.

The centre's second-half clanger cost his side at least seven points, while Munster would score seven themselves soon after.

After the game, head coach Ronan O'Gara lamented the 'open goal' opportunity, and his side's losing of key moments.

He said: "It's difficult because we lost key moments.

"There was the sequence of events with Coombes' counterattack try just after the highlight, when there was an open goal to score. These are big moments in a match like that.

"This defeat is nothing like some we've experienced in the last two months. Today was a good match, but we didn't seize the opportunities. It's very disappointing.

"We have to congratulate Munster, who had a great plan with some very well-played kicks and guys who won the aerial balls. We didn't win either the ground game or the aerial game. When you lose both, it's difficult to win.

"There were some good things from time to time with the ball, but not enough."

The French side have certainly gone up in our estimation after this.

Late Jack Crowley drop goal seals epic Munster win over La Rochelle

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

When Munster needed him most, Jack Crowley created something out of nothing, with his 68th minute drop goal putting his side two scores ahead.

While La Rochelle got within a point of the Irish side, it was Crowley's actions that made the difference.

The game finished 24-25.

Simon Zebo rips into former teammate for shocking brain fart

La Rochelle should be at least 15-10 ahead of Munster right now, instead they are 15-10 down, thanks the Teddy Thomas.

The Frenchman looked for all the world that he was going to score in the corner with just two props to run past for the speedster, instead he cut inside and Munster secured a turnover.

Former Munster winger, Simon Zebo, who played with Thomas for La Rochelle, said: "That is poor from TeddyThomas.

"Borderline arrogant" I still can't believe that happened. What a botch.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Ronan O'Gara takes him off, after that"

Soon after, Gavin Coombes charged down a kick and went over for a converted try.

Craig Casey cracker keeps Munster on track from La Rochelle upset

It's 10-7 between Munster and La Rochelle.

The visiting province had to weather an early storm as La Rochelle made yards at will and dominated territory.

However, they kept to the French side to just 7-0, and managed to turn the momentum their way, mostly thanks to a cracker of a try from Craig Casey.

While it was the scrum-half who finished off the score, it was created out of nothing by Thaakir Abrahams, who is making a rare start at fullback.
