Man United icon comes out in support of nation's communist party

He always loved the left-wing!

A Man United icon has come out in support of his country's communist party.

United cult hero Nani has been pictured endorsing the 'Portuguese communist party', specifically the eco-socialist green branch.

The former Portuguese winger was pictured twice, once for the 'Ecologist Party' and another in front of the classic hammer and sickle.

The party is part of a coalition of communist parties in Portugal called 'Coligação Democrática Unitária' (Unitary Democratic Coalition) made up of the 'Portuguese Communist Party' (PCP) the 'Ecologist Party' (PEV) and the integrated 'Democratic Intervention' party

Football fans worldwide were quick to humour the popular player, with many repeating the same joke: "He always love the left-wing".

Comrade Nani!

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has lost a quarter of his net worth since taking over Man United

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has lot a quarter of his net worth since taking over Man United.

The billionaire businessman bought a 27.7% stake in the club for £1.25bn back in February 2024 gaining directive control of the club, and would go on to increase his stake to 28.94%.

However, Ratcliffe has since slipped from fourth to seventh on the annual list of the UK's 350 richest people.

The 72-year-old's wealth has declined from £23.519bn to £17.046bn in the past 12 months.

This has been reflected on performances on the pitch which have not been flattering with the club languishing in 16th in the league and only managing a Europa League spot last season through the back door.

United have won the FA Cup under his tenure, but this was mostly with a team from the pre-Ratcliffe era.

The club have a chance to win the Europa League this season as they face Spurs in the final next week.

Liverpool to trigger release clause for Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement

Liverpool are set trigger the release clause for Trent Alexander-Arnold's replacement.

The news comes via Paul Joyce and The Times who report that the club have triggered the £30m release clause of Jeremie Frimpong.

The Bayer Leverkusen wing-back is seen as the ideal replacement for the outgoing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Playing in his preferred right wing back role, Frimpong has excelled at Leverkusen notching up 74 goal contributions in 190 games and going invincible with the German club last season.

Reacting to the rumours, one person wrote: "Jeremie Frimpong is worldclass.

"There are good reasons why all the top clubs want the Leverkusen wing-back. With his release clause set at around €40m the Dutchman is a bargain."

Real Madrid 'agree £50m deal' for Premier League star

Real Madrid have reportedly made a "club to club" agreement to trigger the release clause of Dean Huijsen and bring the young star to the Bernabeu.

Dean Huijsen has been a name that has come up time and time again this season in the Premier League, and for good reason too, as he stars in a Bournemouth team enjoying their greatest season ever.

The Cherries have been flying this year, thanks in no small part to the 20-year-old Spanish centre-back.

It was rumoured last week that the club were interested in the player, but concrete moves have now been made after Xabi Alonso's asked for his acquisition to be sped up.

Only hours ago Fabrizio Romano reported that Huijsen's camp had landed in Madrid to finalise personal terms with the Spanish giants.

Last night, Romano confirmed that Bournemouth had approved Real Madrid's conditions for the player, seeing the £50m release clause paid by the end of 2026.

He also said that the deal was "done club to club"

However, he also mentioned the green light was still needed to seal the deal with Huijsen's camp.

Bournemouth signed the player from Juventus last season for just £13m and have inserted a £50m release clause into his contract, making him by modern standards, a bit of a steal.

Meanwhile, there is plenty of interest from within the Premier League for the youngster, with Arsenal and Spurs said to have held talks, although it looks like nothing will derail the move now.

Spurs star 'out of Europa League final' after undergoing surgery

One of Spurs' best players is likely to miss the Europa League final after it was confirmed he underwent knee surgery today.

Dejan Kulusevski picked up an injury against Crystal Palace on the weekend and, after medical staff assessed the player, it was decided the Swedish winger would need surgery on his right patella.

The club announced the news in a statement.

They said: "We can confirm that Dejan Kulusevski suffered an injury to his right patella in our Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace last weekend.

"Following further specialist consultation, the midfielder has undergone surgery today and will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately.

"We're all with you, Deki."

The club are yet to confirm whether he will play the final, however, it is looking extremely unlikely.

The news comes after it was confirmed neither James Maddison nor Lucas Bergvall will feature in the final either.

Liverpool in advanced talks to sign 'world class' right back as Trent replacement

Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign a 'world class' right back as ideal Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement.

Rumours have been swirling for some time now about Liverpool getting a replacement for Trent, even before he was confirmed to be leaving.

One name that has been repeatedly brought up is that of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

Playing in his preferred right wing back role, Frimpong has excelled at Leverkusen notching up 74 goal contributions in 190 games and going invincible with the German club last season.

Now, Fabrizio Romano, Florian Plettenberg and Dave Ockop have all reported that Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign the flying Dutchman.

Reports suggest that the player has an incredibly cheap release clause of £30m, an absolute steal.

Reacting to the rumours, one person wrote: "Jeremie Frimpong is worldclass.

"There are good reasons why all the top clubs want the Leverkusen wing-back. With his release clause set at around €40m the Dutchman is a bargain."

Virgil van Dijk sends clear message to Trent Alexander-Arnold on Liverpool exit

Virgil van Dijk has sent a clear message to Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of his confirmed Liverpool exit.

The local lad made known his intentions to leave the club over a week ago and has received a mix of responses from Liverpool fans.

Against Arsenal on Sunday, the Premier League winner was booed by a large portion of the Anfield crowd, although many have come out in support of Trent.

His teammates have generally been supportive and pundits have also provided a range of view points.

However, now, club captain Virgil van Dijk has given his thoughts on Trent's departure and his feelings are pretty clear.

The Dutchman said: "“Trent leaving? For me there’s no other place to be at this point.

“It has to be a big summer and I trust the club and the people who make the decisions to do the right thing. I feel with additions we can make that step up”.

Kevin de Bruyne 'gives green light' for move to European giants

Kevin de Bruyne has "given the green light" for a move to one of Europe's biggest clubs.

The news comes via SkySports.CH and Sacha Tavolieri who has reported that De Bruyne, who believes he can still play at the highest level, wants a move to Naples.

Napoli have shown interest in the player, and De Bruyne has spoken with fellow countrymen and Serie A veterans Dries Mertens and Romelu Lukaku about life in Italy.

He is said to be excited about the prospect of living in Naples as well as Antonio Conte's project.

Sporting Director, Giovani Manna, has already spoken with the player's entourage and is, according to Tavolieri, currently writing up a first draft of a contract as we speak.

Manna has been clear that Napoli cannot pay the €20 million euros-a-year De Bruyne currently earns, however, is offering €7 million and proposing the laxer Italian tax laws as an incentive.

The initial contract will last two years with a one year extension as an option.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis releases statement after entering field of play

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has spoken out in an official statement after entering the field of play following Nottingham Forest's 2-2 draw v Leicester.

"Today is a day for celebration, because after thirty years Nottingham Forest is now guaranteed to be competing on the European stage once again, a promise I made to our supporters when we achieved promotion!

"With two more games to go in the Premier League, we must keep believing and keep dreaming, right to the final kick in the final game. We are extremely proud and close to Nuno and the team, and we must all celebrate the historic achievements of this season.

"Everybody - coaching staff, players, supporters and including myself - we were frustrated around the injury of Taiwo and the medical staff's misjudgement on Taiwo's ability to continue the game. This is natural, this is a demonstration of the passion we feel for our Club!

"Let's all be grateful, passionate and keep on dreaming!"

Andy Robertson speaks out on Trent Alexander-Arnold being booed by Liverpool fans

Andy Robertson was asked on Trent Alexander-Arnold's reception when substituted on in the clash v Arsenal by Sky Sports:

"Yeah, look, there's a lot of emotion around it. I think it's crucial in these moments that I don't tell you how to feel and you don't tell me how to feel.

"So all I can tell you is how I feel about it and first of all, I'm disappointed to lose my best mate and we've done it all together.

"He's an amazing player and an amazing person, he's made me a better player, and that's from the bottom of my heart, he's taken me to levels I never knew existed.

"He's made a choice. I think his legacy at this club is there for everybody to see and the moments he's had in history will always be there.

"Of course, it's an emotional decision, but he's made that decision. It's not nice to see your friend get booed.

"I love him as a friend, as a player, he'll be missed as one of my best friends in the game."
