Steven Gerrard emerges as favourite for EFL manager job

Steven Gerrard has emerged as one of the favourites for a vacant EFL manager role.

Out of the game since leaving Saudi club Al-Ettifaq by mutual consent in January, Gerrard is now on the radar of his next club.

Despite recently stating he was planning to enjoy a break from the game, he is reportedly being considered for the role at Middlesbrough.

Boro recently parted ways with Michael Carrick after missing out on the play-offs.

The other frontrunner for the role is former Luton Town gaffer Rob Edwards, who guided the Hatters to the promised land of the Premier League in 2023, but was subsequently sacked after back-to-back relegations loomed.

Eventually, this led to Sane becoming a free agent and had long been linked with moves to north London.

Al-Hilal and Fenerbache were also interested in the player.

Sane will earn €15m (£12.5m) over three years in Istanbul.

Sane won two Premier League titles with Man City, soring 39 goals and assisting 44 in 135 games.

Liverpool receive approach for Darwin Nunez as club set asking price

Liverpool have been approached for the potential transfer of Darwin Nunez away from the club and has set his asking price.

The interest in the player once again comes from Saudi Arabia and Al-Hilal with the player long rumoured to be a target of the Saudi league.

Nunez has had a mixed time at Liverpool, winning the league, but also frustrating fans with his inconsistent finishing and heavy touch.

Al-Nassr had lodged a €70m (£59m) bid in January for the player which Liverpool rejected.

However, the Reds now see this number as the benchmark for Nunez and won't take less for the player.

Liverpool paid a club-record £85m for Nunez when he joined from Benfica in June 2022.

In 49 starts, Nunez has scored 25 goals and provided 13 assists.
