'Jenny' to leave PAR today

PAGASA says Typhoon Jenny has further intensified while it passed very close to Orchid Island near Taiwan.

As of 4 a.m. on Thursday, Jenny was found 140 kilometers north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.

It is moving westward at 10 kilometers per hour, with peak winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph.

The following areas are under tropical cyclone warning signals:

  • northern portion of Apayao (Calanasan, Pudtol, Luna, Santa Marcela, Flora)
  • northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Piddig, Bangui, Vintar, Burgos, Pagudpud, Bacarra, Adams, Pasuquin, Carasi, Dumalneg, Laoag City)

Jenny is expected to make landfall over the southern portion of Taiwan on Thursday morning and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Thursday afternoon and evening. 

Signal No. 3 up over northern part of Batanes due to 'Jenny'

Signal No. 3 has been hoisted over the northern portion of Batanes as Typhoon Jenny has slightly weakened and started its west northwest turn towards southern Taiwan.

In its 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, Jenny was spotted 270 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, with peak winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

It is moving west northwestward at 10 kph.

Signal No. 2 has been raised over the rest of Batanes and the northern portion of Babuyan Islands. Meanwhile, other areas in northern Luzon are under Signal No. 1.

Typhoon Jenny weakens, slows down over Philippine Sea

Typhoon Jenny (international name: Koinu) weakened slightly as it slowed down over the Philippine Sea, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday.

'Jenny' slightly weakens

The state weather bureau reports that Typhoon Jenny slightly as it decelerates northwestward over the Philippine sea.  

Its center of the eye of Typhoon Jenny was estimated based on all available data at 330 kilometers East of Basco, Batanes or 340 km East of Itbayat, Batanes (20.7 °North, 125.1 °East ).

The typhoon packs maximum sustained winds of 155 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 190 km/h.

Signal No. 2 up in Batanes due to 'Jenny'

PAGASA says Typhoon Jenny has maintained its strength over the Philippine Sea. 

In its 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, Jenny was found 350 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

It is moving west northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 205 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Batanes.

Typhoon Jenny steadily intensifies on Monday afternoon, according to the state weather bureau.

PAGASA says Jenny is moving northwestward over the Philippine Sea.

It packs maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometer per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 190 km/h.

The state weather bureau reports that Typhoon Jenny (International Name: Koinu) has further intensified as it accelerates northwestward over the Philippine Sea.

Its center of the eye was estimated based on all available data 635 kilometers East Southeast of Basco, Batanes (18.9 °North, 127.8 °East .)

PAGASA says maximum sustained winds of 140 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 170 km/h.

'Jenny' intensifies into a typhoon

The state weather bureau reports that tropical cyclone Jenny (International Name: Koinu) has intensified into a typhoon over the Philippine Sea.

As of 4 a.m., its center of the eye was estimated based on all available data at 655 kilometers East of Aparri, Cagayan or 665 km East of Calayan, Cagayan (17.9°Nort, 127.8°East).

PAGASA says Jenny packs maximum sustained winds of 120 km per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 150 km/h, and central pressure of 975 hPa.

The following areas are placed under Wind SIgnal No. 1.

Batanes under Signal No. 1 as 'Jenny' strengthens

Batanes has been placed under Wind Signal No. 1 as Severe Tropical Storm Jenny (international name: Koinu) slightly intensified, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

Jenny was last located 760 kilometers east of Aparri in Cagayan, with maximum sustained winds reaching 100 km per hour near the center and gusts up to 125 kph. It may become a typhoon Sunday evening.  — Gaea Katreena Cabico

'Jenny' becomes severe tropical storm, brings heavy rains

Cyclone Jenny (international name: Koinu) intensified into a severe tropical storm Sunday morning and will bring heavy rains to parts of Luzon and Visayas, state weather bureau PAGASA said. 

Jenny was last located 790 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, with maximum sustained winds reaching 95 km per hour near the center and gusts up to 115 kph. — Gaea Katreena Cabico
