No power problems during BSKE 2023 — DOE

The Department of Energy (DOE) said that there were no power issues reported during the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on Monday.

In report issued on Monday afternoon, the DOE said all power generation plants in the country ran a normal operations except for some power plants in Batangas, Guimaras and Iloilo. — Ian Laqui

Post-BSKE: Comelec eyes more mall voting sites, ‘special registration’ for next elections

After the conduct of the long-awaited Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, the Commission on Elections is eyeing to permanently replace schools with malls as voting sites and to conduct a special registration period to correct incomplete voter lists.

Comelec: Early voting option a ‘blockbuster’ among senior citizens, PWDs

 The Commission on Elections’ pilot implementation of the early voting scheme for vulnerable sectors turned up favorable results during the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, according to the poll body’s chairperson.

Pilot tested in just two cities — Naga and Muntinlupa City — the early voting scheme allowed senior citizens and PWD voters to cast their votes from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. ahead of the regular opening of precincts. — Cristina Chi

Illegal campaigning rules also apply to non-candidates — Comelec

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded that illegal campaigning, such as vote buying also applies to people involved in the campaign but are not candidates.
