Electricity service affected by 'Aghon' back to normal — Meralco

Electricity concessionaire Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said that the electricity operations in areas affected by Typhoon Aghon returned to normal.

In a press release on Wednesday, Meralco said that it had restored all of its circuit and primary lines in the areas affected by the typhoon.

Most of the affected areas, according to Meralco, are in Quezon and Laguna while the rest are in parts of Batangas, Cavite, Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan.

Over 51,000 affected as ‘Aghon’ nears exit

More than 51,000 people were affected by Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar), which hit the Philippines over the weekend, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Wednesday. 

The first cyclone to enter the country this year impacted over 16,000 families in Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol region, Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas.

'Aghon' about to exit PAR

In its 11 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA said that Typhoon Aghon is about to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

It was last located at 870 kilometers East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon (23.3°North, 129.8°East).

The typhoon packs maximum sustained winds of 130 km per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 160 km/h, and central pressure of 970 hPa.

‘Aghon’ no longer a threat, to leave PAR Wednesday

Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar) is no longer a threat and is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, PAGASA said. 

Aghon, the first cyclone of the year, was last spotted 870 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, with peak winds of 130 km per hour near the center and gusts of up to 160 kph.

'Aghon' continues to accelerate

In its 5 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, the state weather bureau PAGASA said that Typhoon Aghon continues to accelerate northeastward over the Philippine sea. 

 The center of typhoon was last spotted at 535 kilometers East of Basco, Batanes (20.1°North, 127.1°East)

Aghon packs maximum sustained winds of 130 km per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 160 kph, and central pressure of 970 hPa

It is currently moving northeastward at 30 kph.

'Aghon' maintains strength

In its 11 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, the state weather bureau PAGASA said that Typhoon Aghon maintained its strength as it accelerates northeastward away from Luzon.

At 10 a.m., the center of the typhoon was estimated based on all available data at 455 km East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.8°North, 125.9°East)

It packs maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometer per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 160 km/h, and central pressure of 970 hPa.

Typhoon Aghon palabas na ng PAR sa ika-29 ng Mayo

Bahagyang humina ang bagyong "Aghon" habang patuloy na kumikilos pahilagangsilangan palayo ng Luzon. Wala na ring Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) na nakataas sa ngayon.

Namataan ng PAGASA ang sentro ng bagyo 315 kilometro silangan ng Tuguegarao City, Cagayan 4 a.m. ngayong Martes.

1 dead, over 36,000 affected due to 'Aghon' — NDRRMC

 The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Tuesday reported that Typhoon Aghon (Ewiniar) has left one person dead and more than 36,000 affected.

The NDRRMC said in its latest report that a 14-year-old female from Misamis Oriental was killed after a tree was toppled by Aghon's strong winds. Meanwhile, eight people were injured.
