Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla lauded the Philippine National Police for the rescue of human trafficking victims during the implementation of an arrest warrant against a religious leader in Davao City.

The PNP Region 11 last Saturday served the warrant against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his co-accusded in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ  compound.

The rescued victims are now under the protection of the police after they were evaluated and assessed by the DSWD Region 11.

Six PNP members injured during the KOJC rally on Sunday

At least six members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) team were injured after being assaulted by a member of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) known as alias GENE, who attacked them with stones and a kitchen knife approximately 12 inches long at around 10:20 p.m. on Sunday evening.


At around 12 midnight on Monday, the PNP also said another individual l known as alias John was apprehended, and his car was impounded after he was caught transporting 18 pieces secondhand tires and kerosene, which were allegedly intended to be burned during their rally.

 
The PNP said KOJC members successfully burned secondhand tires and blocked the road along the National Highway in front of the KOJC compound.
