Metro Manila, others still under Signal No. 2 as 'Kristine' gains speed over Northern Luzon waters

Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon remain under Signal No. 2 as Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) maintains its strength while accelerating west-northwestward over the sea west of Northern Luzon.

As of 4 a.m. on Friday, October 25, PAGASA reported that Kristine was spotted 125 kilometers west-northwest of Bacnotan, La Union.

Due to the raising of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Nos. 1, 2 and 3 in most areas of Luzon in view of the persistent intense rainfall and strong winds brought about by Severe Tropical Storm ‘Kristine,’ to further aid in the rescue, relief, and recovery efforts of the government, and upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, work in government offices and classes at all levels in Luzon are hereby suspended on 25 October 2024.

Batangas Provincial Hospital is flooded

The Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery, Batangas temporarily halted the admission of new patients on Thursday, October 24, as severe tropical storm “Kristine” (international name: Trami) swept across Luzon.

The storm triggered flood waters entering the hospital's ward and emergency room.

Severe storm 'Kristine' aims for Lingayen Gulf as areas still under Signal No. 2

Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) continued to move slowly toward the Lingayen Gulf, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall to parts of Luzon. as of Thursday night, October 24.

As of 7 p.m., Kristine was located over the coastal waters of Bacnotan, La Union, with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph.

The storm's strong to storm-force winds extend outwards up to 730 kilometers from its center, according to state weather bureau PAGASA's 8:30 p.m. advisory.
