Tropical Depression Verbena has passed over Guimaras and southwestern Panay and is now over the Sulu Sea, the state weather bureau PAGASA said on Tuesday morning, November 25,
As of 10 a.m., the center of Verbena was spotted over the coastal waters of Hamtic, Antique.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph), gusts of up to 90 kph and a central pressure of 998 hPa.
Verbena is moving west-northwest at 35 kph, with strong winds extending up to 250 kilometers from its center.
The following areas are under Signal No. 1:
Luzon: Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, the northern and central portions of Palawan (Araceli, Taytay, El Nido, Dumaran, Roxas, San Vicente, Puerto Princesa City) including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands, and mainland Masbate (Balud, Mandaon, Milagros, Cawayan, Placer, Pio V. Corpuz, Esperanza, Uson, Dimasalang, City of Masbate, Mobo, Palanas, Aroroy, Cataingan, Baleno)
Visayas: Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Cebu
Tropical Depression Verbena has crossed Negros Oriental, prompting PAGASA to raise Tropical Signal No. 1 over 29 areas in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao on Tuesday morning, November 25.
In its 8 a.m. weather bulletin, the state weather bureau said that Verbena was last spotted in the vicinity of Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 90 kph.
The tropical depression was moving west-northwest at 20 kph.
PAGASA said the following areas under Signal No. 1 may experience strong winds with minimal to minor threats to life and property:
Luzon
Visayas
Mindanao
