Magomed Ankalaev knocks out Ion Cutelaba at 4:19 of Round 1.
Ankalaev comes out in southpaw with Cutelaba taking the center of the cage in orthodox stance. The start to this one is much more measured than their last contest and a minute in, neither man has attempted much. Cutelaba is still coming forward and the first big shot lands when Ankalaev lands an inside low kick and gets caught with a counter overhand right.
Cutelaba is now having some success countering, landing the right hand and a check left hook when Ankalaev opens up with offense. Good body kick lands from Ankalaev but Cutelaba shrugs it off. Cutelaba comes surging in and Ankalaev lands a counter hook and then a clinch knee that stops Cutelaba for a moment.
Now Cutelaba is back to marching forward but he's not cutting the cage and now Ankalaev is landing better counters as Cutelaba is chasing too much. The straight left hand from Ankalaev is finding the mark and one of them drops Cutelaba who was attempting a spinning back fist. ! Cutelaba is back up and looking okay but that was dangerous. Now Cutelaba is stalking again. He rushes in and gets clocked with right hook, left hand straight that drops Cutelaba to his back! Cutelaba is in all sorts of trouble! Ankalaev follows in to the mat and lands shots and it's all over! Cutelaba is out cold!
Lest we forget, Ankalaev and Cutelaba have been scheduled to face each other four times before. Their first bout ended in controversy and since then, it's been a cavalcade of cancellations.
