Maverick's cardio was obviously excellent coming into this fight because she just went 15 hard minutes and seems fine. Maverick talks about having a tough weight cut for this fight but says she's mostly happy with the performance, having worked through some tough positions and still getting the win.

Maverick concludes by saying she wants to be back soon and hopes to get another ranked opponent next.

Miranda Maverick defeats Gillian Robertson by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Seems like the dynamics are clear for both women here. Robertson needs a takedown and Maverick should keep it on the feet. Maverick comes out to start the second and she is pressuring very heavily now, marching Robertson down and firing combos. 

Robertson grabs a single-leg but Maverick is able to defend. Another shot from Robertson is poor and Maverick defends and takes the back! Robertson rolls to the mat and she's wearing a Maverick backpack but she's fighting the arm and looking to turn. Maverick is able to fend that off and as the two roll now she's on top and firing punches. Robertson rolls again and now Robertson is turtling and Maverick is landing some knees to the body from the top.

Robertson scrambles against and Maverick is continuing to engage her and now Robertson has an armbar! It's not super deep but she's looking to sweep with it. Maverick is able to defend but now Maverick is in reverse mount and Robertson is looking to convert this to  back control. 

Robertson briefly gets it but Maverick keeps the roll alive and eventually they end up in Ali-Inoki position. Robertson is clearly gassed and Maverick allows her up to the feet. Almost immediately Maverick shoots a takedown and has Robertson down against the fence, holding onto a headlock that isn't doing anything. Maverick stands back up throws a couple of leg kicks, and then returns to the ground with Robertson as the round ends.

In the corner, Robertson's corner tells her they need more action and less watching from her. That's good advice but easier said than done. 

Maverick looks a little slower to start this round but she's still pumping the hands out and Maverick is still on the defensive. Maverick ducks under a shot and she's in on a takedown. Robertson steps around to the back and drags Maverick down to the mat. Maverick is trying to keep Robertson from getting hooks in and succeeds but Robertson spins and establishes side control.

Robertson looking dominant on the ground right now as Maverick is looking for space but cannot find any. Maverick spins and Robertson follows and now she's got the back against the fence but without hooks. More scrambling and Robertson is almost on a choke but can't quite get it. Robertson stays on Maverick as she scrambles again and she's just a step ahead everywhere.

Maverick gives up her back, spins and now Robertson is sort of in North-South but Maverick is continuing to move and not allowing Robertson to get offensive, she's just controlling. Welp, nevermind that as Robertson is now on the neck. She doesn't have hooks but that's dangerous and Maverick is having so shift. Maverick is able to spin and now she's on top and up!

Short time left and Maverick comes charging forward, landing some solid shots but there isn't enough time to win back the round.

Robertson comes out orthodox and Maverick in the southpaw. Lots of motion early from both women early and Maverick is doing a pretty good job of moving with angles. Robertson is a bit slower out of the gate here and Maverick is find a home for combinations. 

Two minutes in and Robertson has not been able to shoot yet because Maverick is pressuring with angles. She definitely has the hand speed advantage as well. Robertson staying patient here, throwing back when Maverick comes in and looking for openings. She's not uncomfortable on the feet right now, but she's getting outworked. 

Robertson throws a front kick that Maverick catches and then takes Robertson down. Maverick is in top-half and putting a lot of pressure down but Robertson is peeking out the back door and works her way out pretty quickly. Now they're back on the feet and again, Maverick is cutting the cage, stepping off on angles, and coming in with combos on Robertson.

Combination for Maverick and then she shoots a blast double that gets Robertson down with ease. Short time as Maverick lands a couple shots and then stands just before the horn. Phenomenal round for Maverick.
