Shakopee's eight three-pointers in the first half gave the Sabers a six-point lead.

Wayzata got going behind scoring leaders Christian Wiggins (18 points) and Isaac Olmstead (14).

Wayzata advanced to a Saturday championship matchup with top-seeded Cretin-Derham Hall.

After falling behind 49-44, Shakopee has pulled to within a point, 49-48, after Marcus Bailey converts a weakside put-back. There's 4:58 left. Looks like another tight in a day full of them.

After a hot half of eight three-pointers for the Sabers, they've gone 0-for-5 from behind the arc since halftime. Wayzata, on the other hand, has put down three three-pointers so far this half and holds a thin lead of two points. Eleven minutes left to play.

Pace of play is starting to pick up. Shakopee’s lead has been cut to two with a three-pointer from Nolen Anderson, after which those in the the Wayzata cheering section leapt to their feet and Shakopee promptly called a timeout. Fourteen minutes left in the game.

The story of the first half was Shakopee's long-range shooting. The Sabers started out hot from beyond the three-point line, connecting on four treys in the first six minutes, and remained very warm for the rest of the first half. Shakopee made eight three-pointers in all before halftime, three apiece from Eli Schroeder and Luke Wherley, to build an 11-point lead late in the half. Wherley led Shakopee with 15 points in the first half. Wayzata struggled to find its shooting touch for much of the half but scored five points just before the half to cut into the Sabers' lead.

After a lengthy lull in which Shakopee was stuck on 17 points, the Sabers have pried the lid off the basket with a pair of three-pointers by Eli Schroeder. It's 24-16 Shakopee with 5:44 left in the first half.

It's bombs away for Shakopee so far. The Sabers have hit four three-pointers in the first six minutes and lead Wayzata 16-10 early.

Wayzata is looking for the program’s fourth state title, after finishing as runner-up last year, and Shakopee is trying for its first championship since 2005.

Wayzata used a strong second half to pull away from Moorhead for a 61-52 victory in the quarterfinals, while Shakopee cruised past Anoka 85-52.
