There's a ton of pace entered in the Dirt Mile, the final Breeders' Cup race of 2024. From inside to outside, the 13-horse field is packed with speedy horses who do their best work on or near the lead.

All this pace could lend an advantage to Post Time, currently 7-1. The multiple graded stakes-winning sprinter has performed admirably against fierce competition running long, finishing second in the one-mile Metropolitan H. (G1) and third in the 1 1/8-mile Whitney (G1).

The winner of the Metropolitan, National Treasure, had previously won the Pegasus World Cup (G1) and 2023 Preakness (G1). There isn't a horse as accomplished as National Treasure in the Dirt Mile field, so Post Time may have found the perfect spot to shine. He's my top choice.
